HTP- was founded in 1961 by father and son George and David Stevenson at High Trees Farm in the village of High Roding near Great Dunmow in Essex
The company was set up to add value to the farm’s own potatoes and was one of the first in the UK to wash potatoes. Today HTP is run by David Stevenson’s son John and it grows, sources, grades and packs potatoes for the independent and export markets. Specialising only in niche and premium fresh potato products HTP now has an unrivalled reputation for both brand quality and service in both retail and catering sectors.

Canary Island Exports
For over 30 years HTP has been at the forefront of the fresh potato export trade to the Canary Islands.
This unique market for British farm produce has evolved from the Canary Islands’ strict phytosanitary regulations. These require the islands imported produce to be grown in soil free from Potato Cyst Nematode (PCN) and other soil-borne diseases.
Due to its low rotation of vegetable crops, the county of Essex is mostly free from PCN, so this fact coupled with our location near to the east coast ports makes us an important source of potatoes for this picturesque group of volcanic islands that has a limited capacity to grow its own.
HTP is situated in the Rodings, a series of beautiful Essex villages that, due to their very heavy clay soil and irrigation from the river Roding flowing through them, produce some of the most sought after potatoes in the islands. From August until April we export to the islands via refrigerated containers in every possible pack format. These products are destined for the smallest fruteria to the largest supermarket.
Working very closely year round with our dedicated UK growers, Defra officials and island partners, we are unique in offering a full ‘field to port’ service with our own haulage company and dedicated pack house.
